A Black Girl's Guide to Finding a Great Hairstylist

What?…Did Hollywood Just Give Praise to a Black Woman’s Natural?

Well…Hollywood seems to have caught on to this movement late.  We’re not even really sure the natural movement exists in Hollywood, but they have taken quite a fancy to Viola Davis’ new natural look.

Women everywhere are throwing down their wigs (and weaves) to go au natural, a subject INABH! has touched on just recently.  But to think we’d see this sort of bravery in Hollywood in time where long, flowy locks are the most coveted, is excited.  The standard of beauty has never been so directed in the black woman’s favor as it is now, especially when it comes to hair.  Let’s take a quick inventory of all of the beautiful features bestowed upon black women that have been hijacked by other races…

  • darkened skin…whether it be by the sun, a tanning bed, a lotion, a spray can or an airbrush…CHECK!
  • injected lipsCHECK!
  • butt implantsCHECK!

Give it time and our natural hair will all of a sudden be considered a must have for all!  Think back to the 80′s, the thin lipped, flat butt look of Christy Brinkley was our country’s standard of beauty, so we’ve come a long way in being completely recognized for the standard of beauty we bring.  It’s just a fact, long, flowing weaves have become the preference in Hollywood, no matter what your race.  So Viola Davis rocking her natural and getting all the praise for daring to go there is exciting.  And let’s be honest…doesn’t she look a thousand times better and just more comfortable without the wig?  INABH! is certainly not knocking the wig, but for Viola, we believe she has found her look.  Work your comfort zone with confidence, Viola!
